So, OK. CodeRay was more than a match for me. I just don’t understand enough about CSS, and that’s the fact. So, luckily I stumbled on a nice alternative, which isn’t quite as attractive, but will most certainly do the job for now. Syntaxhighlighter is a very simple set of Javascript and CSS files that, combined, do a nice job of applying syntax highlighting, with minimal fuss and muss.

So, onward and upward. I decided, ultimately, against using Akismet, and instead went for another similar service called Defensio, which was, ultimately, quite easy to implement.
