CodeRay kicked my ass

So, OK. CodeRay was more than a match for me. I just don’t understand enough about CSS, and that’s the fact. So, luckily I stumbled on a nice alternative, which isn’t quite as attractive, but will most certainly do the job for now. Syntaxhighlighter is a very simple set of Javascript and CSS files that, combined, do a nice job of applying syntax highlighting, with minimal fuss and muss.

Simply add the .js and .css files, and apply the right tags and classes and Bingo! you have code highlighting. It’s a bit unattractive I think, but will serve the purpose for now. Here’s an example:

    def index
        @posts = Post.find_published_posts

        respond_to do |format|
          format.html # index.html.erb
          format.xml  { render :xml => @posts }
        end
      end

Sweet, sweet Ruby code. I’ll keep working on CodeRay, but meanwhile, this has been a pretty darn productive day. I guess the next task is to create an archive for these posts. But somehow I feel like I won’t be needing that anytime soon, given my history with blogs.

Done for the day.
